Great information. And thank you. Here is my thought about the Wbe 2.0 companies in India….

I see a lot of internet based companies coming from India and all of them market them as a Web 2.0 company. However in reality they are just Web 1.0. If you have a internet based company that does not mean that you are a player in the Web2.0 world in India.

Yes Tech crowd are waking up to witness the change in web environment, but we generally got to blame ourself.

Its not only people who have there Masters abroad, posses superficial knowledge to start a new company, we got to encourage local talents.

Tell me where in Academic level they teach you to be entrepreneurs, who would guide youngsters to carry there dreams, we always encourage them to join the Best CMM level company, but yes calculated Risk is always appreciated..

INDIA shining, so as WEB……

My question to you – Is the Indian tech crowd ready to experiment? with technology? with ideas?

I am not too sure.
From my personal experience, it’s too difficult to find people who are experts in RoR, PHP etc. But if you say Java – there are plenty.

FOSS community in India is getting aggressive and popular, but at the same time – many techies do it for fun..but not for serious stuff.

Nice one Sri,
I couldn't agree more that we are lagging in the development using OS technologies.
However, i guess there is a trend here.
All the first wave /service companies in the it field are more on to java/.net. (that is where the money comes from).

If you see most of the startups they are OSF based. (again money, considering no huge licenses and strong dev. community).

I don't think India is that behind in using the open source....
I think what vivek is saying is right...
We still Rank 5th when it comes to use of open source technologies, infact Our Bengalooru still maintains its No 1 Position in terms of Open source usage as well...

Web 2.0 trend is very fast picking up in India.
With Time we will surely be on Top... (Hmm... If we don't Top the chart in IT field, who else can....)

And talking abt ur FAQ it was very good.... But it would have been better if u had answered the last Question!!!

Sri, nice blog and good information. I'm out of touch of web technologies for long time and I'm not sure what I've commenting here is right, this is my take.

With India not in Top 10 or no. of companies getting noticed being less is just a matter of time.

With people getting more information of new technologies, these things will do come up in India as well.

And I do agree with you that you need knowledge before starting anything and definitely you need backing.

Who would not want there life to be simpler.. u can layback, relax & yet get all ur work done...

The only thing we can relay on for this to happen is the Web n now Mobile (the Big M, Moblie = Money).

with new ideas, concepts, Web 2.0 & Mobile as tools, one can win over the world.

With a very large computer literate population, Highest(almost) number of mobile users; "India" is the next big thing...
