When I was at NIT Jalandhar, we heard of IT companies only during placements. And second thing to ask about the placements was the NUMBER. Which company HOW MUCH and HOW MANY ...

They never appeared to give a seminar or setup a lab or do some training program at NIT Jalandhar. I will partly blame institute authorities for that. HP did came to light to fund B.Tech Final Year Major Projects though. No other Indian IT company.
Why the hell on earth these guys don't understand.

Riveting analysis!

India's share 0.6% of world trade compared to 87% of G8 is a sad result, because the G8 has managed the supply side management vs. our mindset of demand side management!!! Brilliant insight Sanjay.

We sure need a catalyst to build momentum to innovation. Completely agree that it is brand and competence which are key differentiators. Brand, in its wholesome definition.

At a fundamental level, I think it is a lack of conviction in our self-worth, which actually translates into the 'fear of failure' and therefore the safe game of incrementalism!

Outstanding article!

Thanks,
Sharda Balaji

Good post.

Our IT biggies don't get it. They are too steeped in process dogma to think of anything else.
from 2005 when the article was published to date, do we see any real change at the top? yes as rightly mentioned there is a lot of innovation happening at the bottom, but we are still long way from the time when the so called gaints lend a helping hand to the smaller firms. Any examples to counter this?
