Tata Nano is set to commercially launch (booking details below) on March 3rd.

Finer details:

Booking starts by February end
You need to pay Rs. 70K to book Nano
The standard model will be available for Rs 1 lakh and there will two other models priced at Rs 1.24 lakh and Rs 1.34 lakh.
All dealers of Tata Motors and branches of the State Bank of India (SBI) will accept bookings simultaneously across the country in the next three weeks.
SBI will initially engaged 100 branches and take the number eventually to 1,000 (SBI will not only act as sole lender to buyers but also offer its branches for bookings.)
Tata hopes to collect around Rs 700 crore in just a few weeks. [1, 2]

Tatas are planning to gift Nano to celebrities – few names include President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Opposition Leader LK Advani, Sania Mirza, Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

How about gifting to common man (say few of your workers/Taj hotel staff?), Mr. Tata? After all, Nano is meant to be a common man’s car.

What’s your opinion? Will you go for Nano?

The celebrities cant live without there BMWs and the likes…
They will pass it on to their servants as a perk (maid/driver/gardener/chef)
and TATA will still get the brand mileage(celebrity endorsement)…getting publicity on TV by just gifting 1 lac car is any day cheaper than buying ad slots

@Sumeet, actually I disagree with you. If they gift Nano to, say families of Taj hotels’ employees (who died in Mumbai attack) – it;d have a much larger impact.

As per my knowledge, Tata Employees gets discounted Tata Products. (At-least was true for TCS long back.) I think, calling PM Manmohan Singh is not appropriate, although u have right to free speech.

We are waiting for the Launch in Chennai. Definetely i would love to be a proud owner of the same it few months from now. It is for all political mileage Tata has to convince by giving free Cars to all those who have enough money and who would not be using the said car. It would be rather better to be gifted to those who saved lives from his prestigious Taj Hotel and to the commandos who have done a commendable job.

Writing from Michigan in the USA, this is an exciting car. I hope Mr. Tata bring it to the states as soon as possible as it would be a HIt at 6,000 USD. I doubt if many in India have any idea what an exciting car this would be for the average American. Hats off to Tata for this fine vehicle … and so sorry you bought Jag and Rover from Ford. You have my condolences.

To Book the Tata Nano you just have to fill the application form The tata nano application forms are available at all the Tata motors dealers, state bank of India branches, tata indicom outlets and also the westside, chroma and titan showrooms.
The tata nano application forms have to be filled and submitted And Within just sixty days of the close of the bookings of the car tata motors will process the applications and announce the allotment of one lakh cars in the first phase.
