@Telecom Roundup: Bharti Telesoft is now Comviva Technologies, HCL Nokia Partnership

Bharti Telesoft, the integrated value added services provider for mobile operators, on Thursday renamed itself as Comviva Technologies Ltd as part of its company-wide rebranding initiative. (more)

Bharti Telesoft has secured investment from Bharti Enterprises, Sequoia Capital and Cisco Systems.

Nokia partners with HCL for Direct Sales

Nokia has partnered with HCL to set up exclusive retail outlets that sell handsets and services directly to consumers in India.

Nokia will hold a 51% stake in the venture with HCL Infocomm, a 100% subsidiary of HCL Infosystems. The venture will set up flagship Nokia handset stores and virtual Nokia Music stores. It will also sell Nokia’s luxury Vertu handsets and consumer services under Ovi brand.

This is the first single-brand retail JV in the mobile handset space in India. [more]

Idea Cellular partners with Mumbai Indians

Idea Cellular has struck a deal with Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians for sporting its logo on the players’ shirt. Idea Cellular is also taking the partnership forward by allowing mobile users to leave messages for their favourite Mumbai Indian player.[more]
