Vodafone, OnMobile Global enter into VAS agreement
Vodafone will use the ringback tones, voice portal and speech-enabled value added services of OnMobile Global in emerging markets.
The agreement enables Vodafone operators and Partner Networks across the world to rapidly deploy OnMobile’s products

BSNL partners Nokia for 3G services
BSNL, India’s third largest mobile company in terms of subscribers, has tied up with Finnish cellphone major Nokia for bundling 3G handsets along with its services.

MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) questions Loop Telecom ownership
According to licensing rules, the same company cannot own more than 10% in two different telecom firms. The Essar Group, through companies registered in India and Mauritius, also owns 33% in Vodafone Essar, India’s third largest private telecom company.
Funds from the Essar Group have been routed into Loop through other companies – Loop Telecom is owned by a company named Santa Trading (STPL) which, in turn, owns BPL Communication and BPL Mobile Communications. The Essar Group does not have a direct stake in STPL, but has a 9.99% stake indirectly.

‘Users’ consent must for VAS’

Trai on Monday directed operators to seek explicit consent from mobile phone users before activating any value-added services (VAS) such as call ring-back tone and hello tunes.

“Before the activation of VAS, such explicit consent shall be obtained by means of a customer originated call or SMS to a specified number or a request made by the customer in writing or by fax or e-mail,”
