It would also be interesting to see what is the average value of jewellery sold on ebay. Online shopping of jewellery is primarily restricted to brands selling low end products.If one were to look at the listings of products on ebay, suratdiamond.com or johareez.com . It not tough to conclude its mostly products worth a couple of thousand rupees.

Its a given, that people would like to try out more expensive jewellery before making a purchase.

The actual reality is that eBay is at a losing end with their Indian Site. Compare one 1 item per minute vs. thousands per minute sold on their US, UK and other sites. Compare one item per minute online vs. thousands sold on the street shops thru out India.

While there is a lot of “scope” to gain from a different perspective, the reality is that eBay is not able to make a dent into the Indian market with all their mighty marketing. This is after shelling out $50 million for Baazi.com to get into Indian sector about 4 years back. I feel this is rather a very poor showing on eBay India rather a positive.
