The online classified market in on a roll and companies are trying to ease out the process for publishers and advertisers.
Makaan.com has launched a new feature – ClickPay which enables property brokers to create their own banner ads (one can easily create the ad/define the target cities and pay via credit card/net banking). [via]
Though the feature looks interesting, I am not sure how contextual the ads will be – the basic challenge is that the state wide IPs cannot be detected correctly in India.
On the other hand, Sulekha one of the most significant players in local classified industry has launched classified ads on mobile handsets. One needs to login (via the wap porta) and post their ads/classifieds.

In my opinion, these are good signs for taking the classified industry across different points of accesses, but all these players are still scratching the surface.
They should explore going beyond the wap enabled mobile users. How about sending a classified ad thru’ SMS (50% of India still uses ultra low cost handsets)?
These sites anyway have a support team which validates the ad, and the same can be leveraged to validate the sms- ads (which will be for non-logged in users, and prone to spams).

Sulekha has the feature of posting Ads through sms as well. As marketed on TV, users can sms their classifieds ads to 566778 to post them.
Also, just to clarify, the WAP site does not have a login. Users just have to enter their mobile no.s to post or search for an ad.

Hi Ashish, Click pay on makaan.com is not IP dependent. The concept is to diplay ad to the most relevant audience. On makaan a property seeker has to select a city where he/she is interested in buying a property. And clickpay is displayed on the right panel on the search result age. This is the first of a kind of classified in online real estate which allow you to create multiple listings and pay per click.
I think Click Pay has the potential to revolutionize the way property agents advertise online.
