TripMela (travel lead generator), which put itself for sale @ eBay was sold for a paltry sum of Rs. 112,000
!

At the time of sale, tripmela’s revenues (as reported) were in the range of Rs. 1- 1.25L per month and had 80,000 email addresses.
What’s your take on such a distress sale? I believe, this is a penalty for not reinventing the business model.

Never heard of this site!
Boss! This is too less of a valuation for a company which has 80,000 registered users and Rs. 100,000 or monthly revenue.
Surprising!
well the true valuation is what the market is willing to pay and not what you think the market should be paying… the true valuation of the company is what revenue it can pull every month. in the case of tripmela it is 12 lacs/year. they are lucky that the buyer paid 3 times what they are actually worth. Not bad i would say. But the point remains how much cash they have burnt so far. if you take that into consideration then they have basically burnt a hole in their pocket.
I think the internet business is like playing air guitar… JUST HYPE! all these travel sites are doomed. Check out sidestep.com.
Not sure whether the sale was completed. The whois still shows the old owners information. http://whois.domaintools.com/tripmela.com
. On a related note Expedia Inc, the parent company of Hotels.com now owns Hotels.co.in
A quick valuation at http://www.webvaluer.org shows the following: Net Worth $16,936.30
Daily Pageviews 1,860
Daily Visitors 1,053
Daily Ad Revenue $6.24 – 15.60
@PerSquareFeet, well, pluggd.in is valued @ $148,363.70.
@Ashish, I’m sure we all agree it’s much more valuable than that
