India has got Woot with 24HoursLoot

February 9, 2010
By sinha

1 item a day, everyday – well, that’s what Woot.com is all about and a Pune based startup has launched 24HoursLoot, an online store that sells a new item everyday at deep discounted price in limited quantity.

A new item is released every midnight at 12AM Indian standard time, seven days a week. If a product sells out during its run (in 24 hours), a new item will not appear until the next release time

24HoursLoot comes from Pringoo team and the company has built direct relationship with manufacturer/stockist and buy items directly from them, hence the lower cost of product.24hoursloot

What’s interesting is the checkout process – no need to login/create account and usual showstoppers.

Essentially, this is a volume game and since the margin is too low,  the challenge for team would be to garner sufficient interest from sellers as well as buyers – but ecommerce in India is open to experimentation and we are glad to see new players trying out new approaches.

Do give 24HoursLoot a loot and share your comments.

    Good work!

Hopefully they will sell some real stuff. So that people can actually compare the retail prices and their prices. The t-shirt quote contest and the current product looks as if they will sell only t-shirts or stuff they are already selling on pringoo.

Everything else looks just fine. Only now the product they bring will be the real decider. People are ready to buy, give them something to buyable.

      Hi Naman,

We will try to come up with cool stuffs. However demand needs to justify the volume and hence pricing. However, we are here to experiment this model and see how Indian consumers behave and take this to the next level.
FYI, 24hoursloot is no way associated with pringOO as far as the operation is concerned.

      Stay tuned.

Rahul, we don’t mind saying …yes it is Indian version of woot.

Make sure you join our Facebook fan page as well as follow us on twitter where we disclose the next releasing item 1 hour in advance so that you do not need to wait till midnight and you don’t miss to buy an item before it gets sold out. Read here http://www.24hoursloot.com/faqs#q2

Further you can read it in feedburner.

Wish this site was featured on pluggd.in yesterday. Could have used the 1 TB external drive. I doubt if too many people would be interested in buying T-Shirts from such sites (most people like to try on stuff like clothes, shoes etc before they buy though, the T-Shirt is pretty cheap).

    • Jai on February 9, 2010 at 12:41 pm

      Gaurav!!

We have 100% money back guarantee for 15 days and guess what “No question asked”. So hopefully that gives you a peace of mind of buying stuffs at 24hoursLoot.com

Zappos sells shoes and many similar items that you mentioned, people would like to try before they buy (Yes I heard that is US, not India). Because of their customer service and “catch-free” return policy, they are doing good business and built customer’s confidence. So we are trying to do the same here in India. Take your money back in 15days if you are not satisfied. We are so sure about the quality of our product that we know that dissatisfaction will be very rare case at 24hoursloot. Give a try and share your experience please. As you said pretty cheap t-shirt today, you can take the risk :) can’t you?

Regarding missing an item, as I mentioned above

Make sure you join our Facebook fan page as well as follow us on twitter where we disclose the next releasing item 1 hour in advance so that you do not need to wait till midnight and you don’t miss to buy an item before it gets sold out. Read here http://www.24hoursloot.com/faqs#q2

You guys are shouting about Security on your site (http://www.24hoursloot.com/faqs#q7). You claim that you site is secured by 128bit SSL certificate. How come your ordering page is not even secured, forget about 128 bit SSL. You guys are accepting Customer information which includes highly private information like their address, mobile number, email address on a unsecur page. You call this a secure eCommerce site? If you want to copy Woot then do it carefully. Privacy of your customers should be of high concern. Guys don’t enter your private information on a page which is not even secured. Your private information can be easily hacked by any of the smart hackers out there. You guys are giving eCommerce a bad name. Try to improve the eCommerce situation in India not worsen it.

Dear Fundoo Funda (AKA coward preacher):

I guess you may have not visited our site thoroughly or have very poor technical knowledge. We do not keep customer’s credit card information with us. And there is no “Use account” system exist at our website, where user needs to fill out his/her personal information to join. We are the only e-commerce site (as we know), which does not ask user to open the account to buy an item or post comment on the product.

For payment users are taken to the secure payment gateway of EBS and Paypal. And it is 128bit secured.

Please read carefully our statement on the faq page:

“24hoursLoot does not store your credit card information at anytime to protect the customers to the fullest extent. We have 128 bit SSL during the payment process to make sure a safe data transmission over the network”

As far as worsening of e-commerce situation is concern, we know very well what we are doing. And worsening is due to you guys who just know to twist the story and present in a bad manner. I feel pity about you.

We know you do not have enough courage to post the comment with your identity, because you may be one of our competitor or may be envy of what we are doing. Shame on you and please don’t preach others.

    • Fundoo Funda on February 23, 2010 at 7:46 pm

      Hey Jai,

I never said that you store CC information. Do only consider CC information to be Private and sensible data? What about email address, what about mobile number, what about Address? Are they not of any of your concern? They are certainly not transmitted over a secured network. I may not be a geek but I at least know this much. The page on which the buyer enters these details should also be secure. This is a basic www norm world wide. Check any sensible site on the www and you will realize that they are all secured.

Nice to hear that you are competing and you have competitors. If there is competition we Indians will benefit from it. If you can not take criticism, its your problem. You can probably take feedback from the end users and try to improve your site and not defend something which is wrong.

      God Bless you!

      • Jai on February 23, 2010 at 8:03 pm

You still don’t have courage to reveal your identity. You poor guy!

FYI, we have comment form on our site, where anyone can comment anything and if you go through that then you may find some criticism as well. We could have omitted them, but no, we love to have them, as they help us in improvement.

        • Fundoo Funda on February 23, 2010 at 9:17 pm

Does it really matter who I am? What I told is truth. if you don’t like it, it is not going to do any harm to me at least.

          • Jai on February 23, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Ask yourself…if this is the truth then why are hiding your identity to speak truth? and it will not harm you too?
