The Great India Election Web Traffic

Election result day was a testbed for India’s online traffic. Election commission website, eciresults.nic.in received close to one lakh hits per second in the first 30 minutes and couldn’t stand the massive traffic (even though they had installed four new servers having 16-Gb RAM each with a connectivity speed of 35 Mbps to prevent the website from slowing, and had spent around Rs 3-4 crore in the last six months to get the additional software and hardware.).
