While the cricket frenzy has engulfed the whole of India, let’s look at what are Indians searching for in the Internet:
A quick look at data from Jan and Feb throws some interesting insight:
- [Bollywood] Celebrities
Struck by curvy babes, Indians are crazy about Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai.
Katrina, apart from being one of the sexiest babe and Sallu’s GF was recently in news for her visit to Dargah Shariff [Ajmer]. She was wearing a mini skirt, and hence invited the wrath of Muslim community.
And why Ash? Well, her marriage has been announced and looks like the estranged lovers need more of her!
Of course, Mallika Sherawat too is a favorite and she has been recently in news for bagging the leading role in ‘Unveiled’.
Interestingly, Salman Khan is also on the top list – not too sure why [these days he is better known as Katrina's BF!! - Neighbor's envy, Owner's pride?]And the tennis doll, Sania Mirza was in the news for bagging the Asian junior title, and also for her exit from WTA. - Airtel, Indian Airlines, Air Deccan, Nokia
Quite lately, these brands have become a lifeline of the Indian population. The underlying commonality across these brands is their reach. All these brands are accessible and affordable by an average Indian.
Interestingly, Air Deccan rewrote the aviation rules and Nokia happens to be the #1 mobile handset in India [carved their niche with cheapest mobile phone, i.e. Nokia 1100] - Cricket
It’s surprising that Cricket is #2 entry and not #1. In spite of world cup frenzy, cricket failed to make it to the top slot. - And the no. 1 slot goes to?
Surprisingly, its Indian Railways. And why the hell are people searching for Indian Railways in Google?
My guess is because of the parked domain IndianRailways.com [look at their alexa stats: they are doing damn good! Heard of free riding?] and impossible-to-remember IR’s domain, i.e. indianrail.gov.in.
Typically, users first go to Indianrailways.com, realize that they have hit the wrong destination and then head to Google! Laluji, are you reading?
What comes out clearly is that Indians are starstruck and the domestic travel is really really hot. [no wonder the online travel market is so overcrowded!]
