New Launches: RedBus launches mobile bookings for bus tickets, Web18 to launch Content Portal In.com,

redBus today announced the launch of its mobile application that enables customers to book bus tickets on the mobile phone. To enable this feature, redBus is using ngpay technology (www.ngpay.com ).

To me, the only caveat is that users need GPRS connection in order to use ngpay software. This partnership may not have an immediate benefit to redBus, but hopefully as GPRS penetration increases, they can piggyback on ngpay and get more distribution.

Web18 to launch Content portal, in.com

Web18 is all set to launch a content portal, IN.com that will be a pure horizontal portal – featuring right from news (a MyYahoo! kind module which allows users to add their own feeds), Music (tie-ups with saregama, Universal Music, Sony etc),Games, Email (Yahoo like tabbed interface, Gmail like right-side ads), Videos (content tie-ups with blip.tv, Reuters, iShare etc), Matrimonial section (tie-ups with BharatMatrimony, Humarijodi.com etc) and meta-search engine for hotel and Product search (Storeguru, Gadgets.in etc) [via]

Essentially, IN.com is more about content partnership and web18’s attempt to be the “home page” for several Indian netizens. Surely completes the full circle for web18, though creating a differentiation in this already crowded market (already have Yahoo India, IndiaTimes, Rediff and Google) is a huge challenge.

Why should i open YET another a/c to access to me too services. Think like zoho [allowing users to use products using Y! and gmail] is smart way to get tryout users

good point Prasad- the key here is for web18 to get max number of registrations too, so that they can sell personalized services etc.

they are in a way competing with yahoo, google, indiatimes etc and yeah, least i expect them to do is to make registration simpler.

[...] Meanwhile, the other big news today is the launch of in.com. WATBlog says Web18 might have spent 2 C for that domain. I thought of taking it for a pin and have been told that it might take a couple of weeks since my mail id is in a queue. In typical Indian fashion, they told me that jumping the queue is possible, if i give my mobile number. But since I’ve been inundated with SMS relating to everything from commodities to movie tickets to holiday packages to jobs and everything in between, I decided to pass. Unfortunately, even WATBlog’s username/password combo doesn’t seem to work anymore. You can also read about it here. [...]

    My experience with redbus.in .

I tried booking through their site and it ended up in error msg after paying them through online. I tried their customer care number and for them sunday is holiday.. and no service.. I called them on monday ..told they get back to me with 2 min.. no response .. I called them after 1 hour.. same thing happend ,,, Iike that I called them 6-8 times ..

The worst experience I ever had from a sevice provider..

Actually they are using a 3rd party payment gateway service and they will give
the information after 1-3 days.. may be it will take 1 week also..

After 2 days they called me and told they recived my payment and they dont
have any seat for me. Best Service..!!

So take care while booking tickets from redbus.in .. you will end up in
    a error message.
