You may not need these expensive in OEM or portables for much longer. The iPhone has brought location services one step closer to reality with the introduction of the iPhone 3G in July. While not yet providing automatic turn-by-turn directions or audible directions, developers are at work now developing those features. I wrote about my experiences with the GPS capabilities of the 3G in a recent blog post at http://johnkendrick.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/iphone-does-gps/.
