I have always loved Burrp! for it’s organic feature growth – started with one product, built a community and then expanded into other segments (listen to my podcast with Deap Ubhi to know their future plans)
And I am glad to see that Burrp! has made it to the list of top 30 non-US web2.0 companies, and has joined the likes of Joost!.
Apart from Burrp, Pixrat (acquired by MIH) and Khichdee too are in the hot seat [Get the entire list of 30 companies here]
Why is this a big feat? Because sites like Burrp!, which have been successful in driving the community is a slap to those who say “web2.0 is not for India“.
What’s the lesson for Indian startups? - Build products organically. Build communities, not loads of features. Drive the community, get involved with them (cheap ads will not take you anywhere).
Infact, Burrp’s inclusion is a testimonial to the fact that communities aren’t just abut product/feature, but has a lot more intangible value.
Congrats to Burrp, Pixrat and Khichdee! Read our earlier coverage of Burrp! (here and here) .
Hypothetically speaking, which other Indian startup do you think should have made it to the top 30? MingleBox?ibibo?Fropper?MouthShut?
What’s your take?

Ashish, thanks for your continued support. We’re truly humbled by this.
congrats to burrp and pixrat. Well, I attended one of the web2.0 conference in mumbai and all I can say is that it’s very important to cut the noise..burrp has done it well..!
Burrp has always been one of my favorite sites and this is testimony to the fact that doing few things simple is way better than trying to lots of things (and screwing up).
