AOL Wants to put Indian Men in Asylum.in

AOL India has launched a men’s portal – Asylum.in.asylum aol

The portal is a lifestyle site targeted at Indian men and is a customized version of the US site.

The international expansion of Asylum builds on its success in the U.S. Launched in the U.S. in December, Asylum is already the Web’s most visited men’s lifestyle site, attracting nearly 3 million domestic unique visitors in April, with nearly 40% of the traffic coming to Asylum from outside the AOL network.* Besides India, Asylum is simultaneously being launched in Australia, Italy, and the UK, with plans to launch in additional European countries by the year’s end.[source]

The site has a blog like structure loaded with lots of cheesy content:

Men want more than just photos of women. OK, maybe not much more, but at Asylum we’ve got something for all mankind.

My 2 cents to AOL – Why reinvent the wheel? Can’t this be a redirect to an AOL domain (say, asylum.aol.in)? Haven’t you lost some major search engine juice by creating a stand-alone domain?

Anyways, do give Asylum a dekho – there are some cheesy contents and overall, its a good place to pass the time.

What’s your take?
