It’s not that Facebook has beaten Orkut in absolute traffic – there still is a long way to go. But, Google Trends gives you an idea about the ‘trend‘, the intent of users and it’s surely oscillating towards FB.

This was already expected long back.. I knew it was gonna happen, and it did..and the reason too obvious.. Orkut is getting worse day by day..see the applications in orkut, i have no other description in mind than just saying they s*ck! At least, if they can function as they are being named…but not at all…like orkut theme creator app, it cannot create any theme…the admins and moderators have been sleeping all those 2 years i was in orkut…
BTW Facebook also has a large scale SEM campaign running on google since Oct 2009 that might have a role here too.
Any thoughts why Orkut became so popular in India after all? We know that Orkut got traction only in India and Brazil. Any cultural reasons? Is it the brand image of google? Was it easier to use? Or the openness or lack of privacy of Orkut?
i dont believe this story, face book cant over take orkut,because orkut is user friendly and indians loves user friedly things
This is huge! Can’t think of many such examples where a market share of 19 mn can be overtaken so quickly.
Orkut have to think something for this. The data of the trend is quite visible and clearly states the popularity of the facebook.

orkut is comfortable and easy than facebook,see after a time orkut wil be again back in top chat site in india,b’coz they r developing it much and much.orkut admininstrator had very good experience than facebook admis.
