IMIMobile Raises $13mn from Sequoia and First Mark Capital

IMIMobile, provider of converged mobile and online value-added services for mobile operators, media companies and enterprises today announced that it has raised USD 13 million in a financing round led by Sequoia Capital and existing investor First Mark Capital.

The funding will be used to build IMIMobile’s global service infrastructure (cloud infrastructure for Tier 1 telecom operators). Mohit Bhatnagar, Managing Directoimimobile[1]r, Sequoia Capital India will join the Board of IMImobile (details here).

IMImobile’s services are currently accessible to 500 million subscribers of over 40 operator customers in 66 countries. These services are powered by 450 high-end servers hosted in data centers in London, Miami, Dubai, Mumbai and Hyderabad and centrally monitored and managed from the company’s VNOC in Hyderabad.

Recently, MTN announced partnership with IMIMobile for deployment of it’s DaVinci Service Delivery Platform™ on a managed services model, enabling IMIMobile to reach it’s 103mn customers.

    This is an interesting investment. I guess this industry is more of land grab now with everyone worth their salt getting into one of the major VAS players.

    IMI has some good people in the middle management – although I seriously doubt their direction and vision at the top.
