Sequoia and SVB Invests in Ideacts, Cybercafe Advertising Platform

Sequoia and SVB (SIlicon Valley Bank) have invested an undisclosed amount (as per ET, it’s in the range of $5mn +).

Ideacts has presence in 58 cities and their major USP has been the ability to put a structure to the defragmented cybercafe industry in India.

Ideacts has built a desktop client (called Clinck) for cybercafés that serves as an ad delivery channel. Ideacts delivers ads to cybercafes (geo-targeted etc) and pay cybercafes a fixed amount of money per month (no revenue sharing).

Ideacts raised $5mn from Sequoia  in July of 2008 and the company has bagged advertisers like Pepsi/Colgate/Zapak/Yahoo/Google etc.

Infact, the big 3s – i.e. Google/MSN and Yahoo have been luring Ideacts for a share of the pie – be it for the default search engine or the default homepage etc.

What’s your take on Ideacts model? Our earlier coverage of Ideacts has some candid comments/reviews on Clinck.
