Govt. sets up Rs.10 crore funds to promote entrepreneurship in Design

Surely a good news for designers out there – the govt. has announced that it will set up Rs 10 crore fund at NID’s National Design Business Incubator (NDBI) to promote entrepreneurship among young designers.

Government has also agreed to permit the National Institute of Design (NID) faculty to have a share in their consultancy work – [ ET]

These are positive signs of India becoming a product focused economy (and not just executing what your US based client wants you to).

It is sad that the Government is focusing only on NID. There are a lot of design firms out there in India that are doing a lot of good work. We need support too!!
