Biotech Company GangaGen raises $1.8mn

Bangalore (and US) based Biotech research company, GangaGen has raised $1.8mn from ATEL ventures.

The funding will be used to develop treatments for antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections like MRSA, a skin infection that plagues hospitals, and pneumonia (via)

    Seems like they are into a very good niche which will solve a major global health problem.(Hospital based MRSA infections). A country like India loses huge number of ‘otherwise healthy’ patients just due to this problem.

    Heartening to see Indian bio-companies stepping into such basic r&D to come up with innovative biotech therapeutics. Though, I wonder how much time it would take to clear DCGI regulatory approval for Phage based therapeutics in India.
