What do you think will Future Pluggd.in turn out to be?
  • Hi,

I am asking this question under the the category controversial as i think there might be mixed reactions to this question.

But, all i want to know is, pluggd.in also has a few competitors in its segment of business, how do we see pluggd.in to change in coming few months.

With the introduction of pluggd.in/TV, pluggd.in is now ahead of its league, but do you think we can see similar ideas being implemented on pluggd.in's competitor websites too?

  • Very interesting question. Especially at a time where PI is contemplating, planning and executing a whole lot of changes to try and bring and connect a much larger audience on board!

    @sinha - do listen in :)

    Competitor??
Can you please name few as I don't think there is any....I have been following pluggd.in for past years and I don't think anyone is even closer to pluggd.in

  • I agree with @Dhruv. There are some good blogs but they dont have a community like Pi which is evident from number of comments you see in their posts. The community on Pi and Pi forums is its biggest asset Pi has as far as I think.
  • @Dhruv : There is Yourstory.in which also has a section called Yourstory TV and Cloudstory.
Information Architect , Team Lead, EduBee-Interactions Unlimited.
Director, ThinkGraph Technology Solutions Private Limited.
  • There is *always* competition, in one form or another, and thats a good thing! (http://www.pluggd.in/substitutes-alternatives-and-pigeons-better-understand-your-competition-297/)

Yes, the participation on the Forum is a huge asset - especially since PI is trying to bridge communities and hopefully even expand the breadth of the ecosystem. On that note - if you know people who're in tech, doing products and especially those who are entrepreneurial - do invite them in. We would also love to have folks who've built supply chains, created/managed distribution networks, understand specific industries in depth on board.

  • Agree with @Sameer. Competition in any form is always good and the biggest motivating factor. I've been an avid reader of pluggd.in since early 2008 when I was still in college and learnt a lot from it. I love most (if not all) of the articles on Pluggd.in. @Ashish always has something new to tell regarding pluggd.in everytime I meet him. From that, I can truely say that pluggd.in (and it's other properties) are going to grow bigger and better every single day.
    I build web :)
  • @ Yatendra The best part about Pi is the content.

  • @ Susantasaren Yeah there are many like yourstory.in

Have you ever read their content ? Their main focus is on startups rather than the news about latest happenings in the industry. They still haven't cover Amazon FDI approval topic.
Also they cover every startups they get across, which I don't think is a good idea.
    Their content is vague.

On pluggd.in you get most relevant news about the industry and about new startups. Content on pluggd.in is clear and crisp.

  • @ Susantasaren Also I don't know why I feel they cover startups started by people in the age range of 30-40 yrs...Just a thought :-)

One does not feel connected while reading yourstory.in....

  • @ Dhruv

am sorry to say, but every start-up getting covered is a good thing. At least we can have an understanding of markets where more numbers of start up's are created. It can some how later down the line lead to being the best market research website since they cover all start-ups.

Lets come back to the question. I just needed an opinion on how plugg.in will turn out to be. Its by far been one of the best platforms for tech based entrepreneurs. But, the future pluggd.in, the evolved edition.? how do u think will it be.? According to me i think pluggd.in can reach a cult stage where in every tech entrepreneur would love to be associated with. It might turn out to be a platform where VC's can find interesting start-ups and start funding.

Right now i see pluggd.in as a reporting agency. I've been following pluggd.in since 2008 and by far its given me loads of information. I used to often use pluggd.in to motivate my self. Reading articles made me revive that fire in the belly.

But future pluggd.in shall be more than a reporting agency. (Its my opinion)
  • I think Pluggd.in needs more content. Average number of posts per day should be at least 5. But that's just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

  • @ Madani

    I have a different opinion,

I think their has to be a minimum standard or norms to cover startups. I saw yourstory covering a startup who runs e store through Facebook. I read almost all posts on pluggd.in because I know their content is filtered and is the best among its so called competitors.

Rather than a market research websites, they can have case studies or thorough analysis of new trends in the market like they did for Group Buying concept last year.

I would love to have e magazine in every 15 days from pluggd.in or a case study from them.

  • @ Vivek

I disagree. Frankly Sunday is the only day when i have ample time to read as much as i can. All the other days its just a glance on a few post. I tag a few so that i can read them on sunday.

I think more posts on Sunday will make ME happy.!

  • Lovely! A lot of this - both content frequency and quality - is on the drawing boards right now! Good to hear there's a need felt for this already. Expectations are good. Keep going :)

  • My 2 cents - the forum will integrate much more tightly with the main site

  • Sagar - have been thinking along those lines. FB comments work well, right now. What other specific points of integration would you suggest?
    Sameer, Bangalore
    http://linger.in
  • @Sameer - For one the comments on articles could very well be seen as discussions which can be integrated with forum discussions IMO. This opens up a wider audience participation via both the site and the forum.

  • Also, for starters (I dunno if this is already there) the site could have a 'discuss this on the forum' link for articles. Of course the former suggestion takes care of this one implicitly but is that much more tricky to implement in the short run.

  • @sinha - you should look at the last 2 suggestions right away. Thanks @Sagar

Brilliant point. I think i like what you said and yes. If there was an option of clicking on  'discuss this on the forum' link , i think i would have definitely used it. :)

    Cheers.!

  • @Madani : Thanks for starting this thread! And those who shared their suggestion/feedback, thanks a ton for this.
We are currently working (as @Sameer mentioned) on the new new plan and will update very shortly.

And each one of your feedback is valid and will be implemented very shortly.

    Thanks again!

  • my suggestion would be to either remove the jobs section or start actively asking members/visitors to post jobs. a single posting on a section makes it look quite empty.
not many websites offer startup jobs.

  • Founder of http://www.coupondunia.in, India's largest coupon site.
  • i can suggest to concentrate on startups which are working hard to create a product that can save natural resources . i already shared a video done by national geographic to sinha, and sinha intimated me that he can surely post that video. but never posted

We are running out of natural resources, and we need to support or guide those people who are working hard to save our natural resources either technical, managerial, or providing necessary solutions, creating a channel where they can be introduced in market and people start using them..

We die at some time.. let our future generation can use the natural resources. and i really hope that there are few start ups working on these segment.  I wish PI  surely will be unique out from all tech forums, and tech websites

    Thanks

  • @saipothuri  - that's precisely why we created this community platform. That is, if you find something useful - simply share with others.
The biggest bottleneck, i.e. @sinha (*yours truly*) has to be moved out of the system.

Aside, we are concentrating on some of the cleantech related areas and I'd let one of our authors share more (by next week).

  • You guys are doing an awesome job @ PI. You already had the content and the story, and now you pushing it forward with PI.tv & Forums. Both of which is great resources.

One think that would be nice to have is to see some premium research reports ($), similar to gigaom !
