Fraud from eBay India
  • eBay India I ordered a canon 550d slr camera from ebay.in. The cost of item is 35,999.00 plus shipping charge of Rs. 250. When I received the item the seal was a bit tampered with, but it usually happens since the dealer stamps the warranty card.

Now after opening the pack there was no dealer's stamp on the warranty card and the product is faulty since it won't start up. Charged the battery for the whole night and still the camera does not start.

I filed a claim with ebay asking them to get my product replaced or get my money refunded since a faulty product has been delivered to me.

First of all they took a series of reminders and then around 10 days to reply on the issue and this is the reply that I got from their claim adjuster:

    Dear eBay Member,

We would like to inform you that the claim filed by you under eBay Guarantee* for Claim Number – 73269 has been denied as you have received the item under Manufacture Warranty.

Thank you for shopping with eBay.

  • Yeah that's really annoying when a merchant will not accept a return for a defective product because it's under warranty. They want you to deal with the manafacturer directly to save them some hassle.

That's one of the issues of eBay. Each seller sets their own policies. Anyway try calling eBay instead of emailing and see if you get any better of a response

  • Yep, unfortunately (for buyers) eBay's taken this stand of not taking responsibility for the seller's warranty etc from the start, and can't say its totally unfair, given the nature of their business. They do provide mechanisms to provide and use feedback to help screen the bad apples, but I'm sure there are many individual cases of less than ethical dealings like this which occur. It sucks when you get to deal with unethical sellers like in this case. Legally though, eBay is in the clear.

  • it will be better to buy high cost items directly from showroom, even flipkart done the problem  http://www.pluggd.in/flipkart-deleting-negative-reviews-297/

Its not like these ecommerce sites do mistakes on daily basis, but as far as i am concerned i prefer to buy any product of high value directly from showroom and that helps me to get the right product from right person with right warranty coverage  .  that too i prefer near by showroom where i can even catch him if any thing goes wrong with the product with in warranty time

    Thanks & Regards
