Yahoo India heats up the competition with the latest version of Y! maps.
Apart from the regular map feature, the product has been launched with few nifty features:

  • Landmarks based directions, covering all of India.
  • Auto richskaw fares
  • Directions in SMS/Text

Overall, the map is impressive and very much tuned to the Indian consumers and am sure will give a good competition to MapMyIndia as well as RouteGuru.

Test drive the map and do share your comments.

After staying in CA and using GPS to roam around the Bay Area , I’m absolutely un-impressed with the map services in India. I think a LOT of improvement is needed if we want to have the GPSs telling us the directions.

    Raseel:
Unlike US, the Indian streets aren’t structured at all. IMHO, its not at all a good idea to compare the US GPS maps with India’s.

:) Definitely a competition, can’t deny. However, here is some analysis on Yahoo’s recent driving directions. May be someone can help me with some confusions cited there
