Happy Republic Day – (Fir) Mile Sur Mera Tumhara

Today is India’s Republic Day and an ambitious attempt has been made to rekindle the Mile Sur Mera Tumhara magic.

Even though the lyrics of the song has been kept intact, the music has been ‘badly tampered’ with.

I loved the orignal doordarshan piece man. Nothing from bollywood matched its class nor quality. This new version sounds like a wannabe-attack.

      • Preeti says:

I think the old one was much better and gave goosebumps to me whenever I heard it. Though the concept of newer one is also on parallel track, it does not have a mix of bollywood, sports and theatre personalities. They should have kept same lyrics and beat the same just shoudl have introduced new faces…

      • sunny says:

seems like showcase of hindi film industry more than national integration. much more deserving ppl out thr.. Won’t be surprised if mallika n rakhi & offcourse mika are featured in next remake of the same…

    2. Raman says:

Yes it’s like hijacking the whole nation, forcing your own choice of people on the nation – if you call that ‘second anthem’.

If the idea is to include the persons who have contributed to the making/ growth of the nation over past two decades then we have few very obvious omissions. By the way what happened to Ramdev baba ….and that Baap, Bahu, Beta combination with Saas ka tadka … is suffocating.

It’s a typical Bollywood gimmick to sell themselves in whatever form that is available….

      2/5 stars from my side.

    3. naman says:

may be this is how the MTV(read Roadies, Splitsville) Junta connects. In a Democracy quantity counts over quality.

    4. Sangeet says:

have they forgot the cricket legend sachin ??????

    5. Samar says:

      This is beyond pathetic! Disappointing!

    6. RAUNAK says:

      older 1 z da baest…no comparison!!!!!

    7. Vignesh says:

Old song was very good and it was showing national integrity but new one is saying bollywood integrity.

    8. Kingsley says:

      I perfectly agree on that.

Old was really good, too good. They have tampered it to look modern and have a ended up in a video with not so good music and seemingly longer version of the old.

      Hope somebody betters it soon!

    9. anupam says:

The older one is much better and the smoother song and that potray indian culture and music in batter way and at least as a song that good. The new song fir milye sur is well picturise and looking intresting but as a song it is a bullshit.(kisi ka sur nahi mila)

    10. ajay says:

      wheres the god of cricket

    11. vamsi says:

old one is superb…remix version is a flop

    12. Pradeep says:

Phir mile sur is just an attempt to get publicity and brand building. It seems like the Bollywood is India. Specially the dress of Deepika.

Sachin, Dr kalam is missing, no one from politics?

    13. Wangsa says:

I am really dissapointed by this new version of mile sur..just a wanabe plainly made film. Y only bollywood actors man! just sick…the music pathetic!

N if u want to show diverse culture, there is non from My region..North east states..only some miniscule clips of MC marry kom, Baichung Bhutia and Bhupen Hazarika.
      No cricketers, politicians etc…sick.
I give 1/5. Older version was much better!

    14. sumit says:

the old one was much better.People who makes this kind of a stuff should understand that Bollywood is not real India… The Indianness of the old Mile sur reflected Diversity. The finesse the charm and the utter depth of the old Mile Sur gave us Goosebumps.. patriotism seems to become a preserve of a family, and a dynasty..

However media has changed .. old fashioned values are no longer held in esteem by today’s generation.. In a world of Instant gratification. maybe the video has been made to provide ” Instant food to drive patriotism” …. which fails too

    15. shiva says:

this song is too good but comparing to the old it not too much

    16. Praful says:

The old one was much much better. This one is far to away from depicting national integrity, mixed culture etc. Looks like too lesser efforts put in as compared to the older one.

    17. Urvashi says:

The old one was more better.

    18. ravindra says:

why sachin was not there in the video
its amazing,no need of sachin …..
      and why ranbir,shahid,deepika ?
this not a good sign for india

    19. Preethi says:

The old version is a just an absolute classic…whatb makes me happy is everybody’s negative reaction to the new version because that is exactly what it deserves and the renewed and visibility of the old version.Yes!!
India and its 1 billion people is NOT only about the Bachan clan.Seriosuely,I think Indians are getting pretty tired of them.
Give me the elegance of a Waheeda Rehman or a Hema Malini anyday instead of Deepika Padukone doing an item number and Aishwarys Rai’s (always) fake expressions.Just because these bollywood stars play heroes on screen, dosn’t mean they are India’s heroes.Geez…

where the hell are our real heroes—the ordinary Indian or Sachin, our hockey tea, sachin Tendulkar, the Indian army, our award-winning scienitist or just the hardworking Indian man/woman.

Mr. Bachan…you should seriousely take yourself down from the cloud you’ve placed yourself on.Rememeber,India is NOT about you.I know you want to haang on to you fame.but please let go.

    20. swathi says:

…Also,…where is the diversity of India??…Mizoram,Kerala,Punjam,Goa….none of that is shown in the new version

I swear the old version has so much soul….it literally brings tears to my eyes and makes me feel so connected to India. It fulfills its purpose of creating a sense of patriotism and pride in our beautiful, diverse nation.
Bollywood should be banned from making an appearance in these things…they just ruin it …

The only people who deserve to be there is AR Rehman,um…and I cant even think of any other personality who should be there in the new version….we have great icons and they are our real heroes.

And how dare they change the tune!

well,i dont think there is even one person who likes the new version, except for the bollywood stars themselves.

    21. Sharad says:

Well I too go with all the guys ….except for Rahman who deserves to be there …..and may be louis banks one of india’s best jazz keyboardists.

    22. gokul says:

thank god they included the three Olympic medalists… but there are so many other deserving personalities who deserve to be a part of fir mile sur… sachin, Mr. Dhanraj pillai, mahesh n paes and the list goes on… may be its not possible to include all the real heroes of the nation in one video, but the use of ranbir, deepika and shahid seems like exaggerating things a bit too much! wake up people… bollywood is not what makes India! It’s just a part of it… however the inclusion of Mr. Rahman playing the finger board is appreciated! But the video could have been much much better if it was thought of to join in some of the real heroes of the country, leaving behind the reel ones!

    23. sowmya says:

the states almost all were included.

the music was good with the new generation stars like amaan, ayaan, aushka shankar and many more..our traditional musical instruments come throgh beautifully..

the presence of deepika padukone, shahid kapoor, ranbir kapoor, karan johar was unnecessary..

the presence of politicians would have made the song more of a propoganda for votes than national integrity..

the bachan clan and shah rukh have made india visible to the world..so no question as to why they are in the song..

the song is too lengthy..there is more time dedicated to some states and very very less compared to others..

they could have featured gauri khan too as she and shah rukh make one of the biggest examples of unity in diversity…

    24. rprashant says:

it’s a murder of orginal one

    25. Usha says:

The appearance of Deepika padukone,Shahid kapoor,Ranbir kapoor,Karan johar was not needed and umnecessary. So was the presence of Aish and Abhishek Bacchan.

The song should have included Sachin, Paes and Mahesh.

      Have we forgotten our scientists?

Above all the song should have included our beloved ex president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

last but not the least the song should have portrayed men in Kurtas or formals and ladies in either Sarees or salwar or any formal attire. Jeans and other pieces shouldn’t have been allowed.

    26. himanshu says:

pls send me video of fir mile sur to my email id

    27. himanshu says:

pls send me video of fir mile sur to my email id himanshu_rathod52@yahoo.in

    28. piyush dixit says:

nice, but could be more beautiful… some artist can be include

    29. I have seen the video in bits and pieces. Well the original composition was excellent, so a remake of the same cannot be bad. This is exactly what has happened with Phir Mila Sur.

I disagree that you need to dress the men in Kurta and women in Saree or Salwar in the video to make it look Indian. An Indian is not just recognized by a Saree, Kurta or Salwar. These are dresses of the sub continent. But yes MICRO MINI Frock of Deepika Padukone could have been avoided. Jeans and t-shirt, could have been better to portrait young India.

Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, missing was a shocker. Sachin the best Indian Sports person probably all time. Saurav Ganguly, best Indian Cricket Captain both for his aggression and record. He will be remembered as a person who taught Indian Cricket how to be aggressive. Rahul Dravid the best Test Cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar. Paes & Bhupati, “The Indian Express” who made us realize that cricket is not the only sport India can do well.

Yes Olympic medals are great achievements so inclusion of the Olympians was good but surely not at the expense of vetarans of Indian Sports persons. In fact Sania Mirza should have been also included since she is the most looked after woman Indian Sports person after P.T. USHA.

To show young Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor or Ranbir, one of them was enough, both of then is too much.

The beginning with Big B was good but then Small B and Ash looked like family affair.

The whole idea of this video was to portrait New India or rather prospering India, so Science ,Technology and Commerce should have been projected. People like the Ambani Brothers, Azim Premji, Ratan Tata would have been ideal.

News and Television has come a long way since the 90′s. Only Doordarshan to over 100 Indian Channels. People like Pranoy Roy, Vinod Duha, Siddharth Basu, Rajdeep Sardesai & Barkha Dutt would been refreshing.

Someone suggested including politicians in the video. Well politicians are not the most inspiring persons but certainly our Dr.Kalam, Mr.Atal Bihari Vajpai and Dr.Manmohan Singh could have been included. We are still reaping the benefits of Dr.Kalam’s ideology. Prime Minister Vajpai’s policy on infra-structural development of India and Dr.Manmohan Singh’s economic reform policies.

Aamir Khan doing RAPPING with the lyrics and Shahid Kapoor’s ROCKING was really worthless and low points of the video.

Yes we needed a new Mila Sur, because the Western World still shows India’s slums and poverty. We needed to show that India is beyond its slums and poverty. India is for rich as well as poor. Both can be happy in India.

I only hope that ZOOM will consider these public comments and redo the video if they want this to be a memorable one.

    30. jyotirmoy says:

ohh c’mon if everything else is acceptable, why not the micro-mini skirts? Sounds like a lame act of balancing.

the remake sucked as usually all remakes do.

    31. divya says:

      horrible

    32. Ashwini says:

Old one was faar better than this new version…..sad thing is many parts like Maharashtra, Mizoram etc are removed…which is not looking good….moreover it does’nt give the message the anthem is meant for “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”

    33. raveendra says:

his is a very bad version of mile sur mera thumhara. some songs are better kept away from remixing. first half is average and last half looks like a bollywood flick, every one wants to show their face. Pathetic representation of india.

    34. Gayathri says:

Old is Gold, I still love the older version more than the new one….. we could sing along with the old version, but new one is very weired… i hated the lyrics and the music…. even the picturization was much better then than now…

    35. Nipesh says:

Its not worth giving the feedback for the disgusting song. After watching it i felt like killing the person who has made this version. They have already making this rubbish Bollywood movies and now they have started with the songs which motivated us about our country. May be one day they will come up with new version of National Anthem also…………… Some one stop those stupid idiots…..

    36. sanjay sharma says:

its not good sign of unity of india. whereas in older version celebrities of all the fields were there but this one is only dominated by bollywood actor and actress….the deepika, ranbir and many more people got more importance then the identity of cricket…sachin and the michile man Dr. kalam…..its not good realy not good to forget the real indian heros…………….

    37. ayushi says:

they should have §achin tendulkar also.but the song is great.

    38. Rohit Jain says:

      Exellent

    39. Rittwick says:

It and previous one both are exillent because BigB is there.

    40. Sanjana says:

I saw the new verson of : Mile sur Mera Tumhara” and its seems not so good as the old one was. old one was very touchy and feelfull song.i saw that one.but new verson of that song is not much good in both field listening and watching.

    41. jitendera kumar says:

nothing is special in new version. old version is very best. it touch our heart.
& it is like a fresh wave of water & coolest stream of air.
      thnx to Doordarshan.

    42. Manas says:

1.Where is kajol in this video if tanuja was there in the previous video she ought to be there.besides delivering the biggest hit ddlj she deserved to be there.
      2. Also, heavy footage gvn to each artiste(not reqd) solo presence shows NO UNITY so turning the video into meaningless cause!
3.Also at least for the national integration the three khans cud come together!
4.What has abhihek, shahid, deepika ,priyanka or for that matter ranbir done for the nation that they get to feature in the video?
5.The giants like sachin tendulkar, kalam, suchitra williams, madhuri dixit, hrithik wid papa roshan, vishwanathan anand, pranab roy, barkha dutt, deserved to be there much much more than actually featured!
6.It should have been about those ppl whose work was recognized in the past 22 years!
what a waste of time money n resources!

      Its a flop!

    43. Amlan says:

Where is the NIGHTINGALE OF INDIA ???????????
      HAVE THEY FORGOTTEN HER????????
      AMARTYA SEN ???????
      MASTER BLASTER ????????????
HAS INDIA LOST SOME OF HER STATES AND HEROES ??????
**** AN INCOMPLETE AND INCOMPETENT WORK.********
INCLUSION OF NEW GENERATIONS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA. BUT THE OLDER ONES SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LITTLE SPACE. AS MR BIG B HAS GOT.
******* 17 MINUTES OF GOOD BAD AND UGLY. **********

    44. NEIL says:

      sachin tendulkar was missing dere……..
      dats not right at all……..man
      he is legend of cricket………..yaar
      isn’t he?????????????

    45. Parbonee Dey says:

An excellent song I’ve ever heard. MILE SUR MERA TUMHARA…..

      Parbonee dey(12 yr old child).

    46. bilal says:

it was the old one whiuch took all the hearts, the new one doesnot seem to have any kind of integration.love only the old. its really true yhat OLD IS GOLD

    47. laksh says:

old version is very very good it nice it tells about our country’s culture, tradition, pictures many great personalities who really worked hard 4 country’s pride.
the new version does not any culture especially deepika’s dress which does not show india’ s culture. they have concentrated only on publicity pictureising only cine stars what fame they have given to our country.
      old is gold.

    48. Prerna says:

      Good try…but its HORRIBLE….
Old one is malodious n pleasent….

    49. JAHANVI NARAYAN says:

The new version of mile sur mera tumhara is presenting pond in place of sea.
Celebrities ,celebrities ……..and celebrities. It seems like “celebrity pack” which is not capable to describe our incredible INDIA.
      OLD IS GOLD
& WE WANT OUR GOLD SOME MORE.

    50. rahul says:
