Facebook Using Diwali to Promote User-Tagging in Status Updates
Facebook seems to have upped the ante in India and is aggressively pushing itself in India. For last couple of weeks, the very prominent “Find your Orkut friends on Facebook” campaign has been running on Facebook.
And yesterday I saw a Facebook promoting its ‘user-tagging’ feature in the status updates for wishing friends and family members for Diwali (check the attached screenshot).
Festive wishes often flood status updates over Facebook. Understanding this trend in user behaviour and using it to promote the newly launched ‘user-tagging’ is a quite a clever move. Facebook does not have a dedicated India team but someone sitting there in Palo Alto, USA is doing a smart job of product management of Facebook for India
