Free Proto Passes [10]

January 20, 2009
By sinha

Proto is round the corner ( 3 days away) and we have 10 free passes to give away (costs Rs. 750/ each).

To avail these passes, do leave a comment – and tell us 1 thing:

  • What sort of articles would you like to see @ pluGGd.in? Essentially, we are looking for feedback from the community and areas of improvement.

We will do a random selection (like the way we did for TiE Entrepreneurial Summit), if there are more than 10 comments.

The contest ends Jan 21st.

Also, note that we are organizing the kick-ass startup disco event on Jan 23rd, 7 PM onwards.

PS: Please ensure that you ask for a free pass, only if you are sure of your availability.

    Hi,

I would love to attend proto.

I would like to see more articles about how to start up your business in India. Examples being, registering your company, trademarks, copyrights, IPR, hiring talent, marketing, how to get office space, details on incubation etc etc.

  2. Kunalkant on January 20, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Articles from Angel Investor, what they are looking for.
    More Legal matters
    More Geek fun
Articles on “How to connects missing or unlinked Dots in your Startup” ( Here Dot means networking with others, connection with mentors, media, Investors, Customers, etc)
More analysis on Indian Telecom, Retail, Web Industry.
Feedback box ( permanent link for feedback) basically here any one seek suggestion/feedback on anything what they wish to.

Dis: I m not looking for pass, but this is right platform to shoot my voice

  3. Aditya Tandon on January 20, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I would like to see the following: (a) The site needs to be more fast to load, it is too slow today. (b) A section to add Press Releases for startups needs to be entered (c) Cover from inception to different stages of a startup – how and why they moved directions. Some sort of analysis and prognosis for startups in their own words (d) Customer talks for startups – which means meeting customers of startup products and put their feedback into the website.

  4. Dhruva Krishnan on January 20, 2009 at 12:49 pm

I would like to see you cover the smaller start-ups and also have an interview with them and let the community know what were the challenges that they have faced. This would not only give an exposure to the start-up but also let the community know about the challenges that they may face.

    • Siddharth on March 2, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I agree with Dhruva and Aditya. Right now most of the times companies start and don’t even know who they are competing against at the grass root level. Competition can creep up from the most unlikely places. (An example of this is Nokia overtaking Kodak as the worlds largest producer of cameras). If nothing else then the publicity given to smaller start-ups would make it possible for other in the same field to know who all the new players are.

  5. Sangfroid on January 20, 2009 at 12:53 pm

    Would like to attend Proto!

Regarding pluggdin, I would love more of original -’straight from the horse’s mouth’ content like the last writeup by Sameer. Content aggregation from across the media is good too but it will be nice to draw a line … before going overboard with it.

  6. Sridhar Pabbisetty on January 20, 2009 at 12:54 pm

More indepth articles on different startups which are trying to monetize their innovations and thier key learning.
This should also cover the realignments they had to do based on the learnings and changed reality.
For greater richness it should becover both succesful as well as ideas which didnt take off.

  7. Azhar on January 20, 2009 at 1:30 pm

More coverage of Product Based Companies which are innovating, now matter how small it is and less articles about Service based companies. I have liked the coverage of pluggd.in of Indian Product Startups.
More articles on giving direction to younger entrepreneurs would be useful too.

  8. Monu on January 20, 2009 at 2:30 pm

I would like to see more interview of new entrepreneurs (not the established ones), their sharing of the things they are trying. Some case studies of few startups.

  9. Jaspreet on January 20, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Not looking for any pass as such..but just wanted to share my feedback on proto – i guess the event has become a useless one and seems to focus on lot of buzz, but not on startups..

Regd. feedback on pluggd.in – i’d like to have more coverage of non-tech startups.

  10. Aniket Ray on January 20, 2009 at 3:36 pm

Don’t want a pass. But would like to see more legal content. Legal issues that startups may face in India.

PS: Had come to see the 11th post :)

    -Ashish

  18. Ganesh on January 20, 2009 at 4:26 pm

Great you are doing this. I would like to see some case studies or business plans updated. It will give entreprenuers a clear understanding of what needs to be included in a business plans & how to go about starting a business.

  22. Nihar on January 20, 2009 at 4:39 pm

Pluggd.in needs to post more analysis and less news. Guest articles are quite good please Them coming.(from Sanjay and other entrepreneurs) Overall, you are doing great so please don’t change dramatically Pluggd.in is one of my favorite blogs indian or otherwise.
BTW I need the free pass ..:-)

  29. Arun Ganesan on January 20, 2009 at 4:55 pm

Personally I would love some way to do networking on a large scale at pluggd as many ppl visit it – also articles at STUDENT levels on how to develop ideas, patenting them, legal aspects involved etc., would greatly be appreciated. It’s time India saw more of student entrepreneurs!!

  30. Mathi on January 20, 2009 at 5:00 pm

I am looking forward to articles on copyrights, incubators and a LOT on entrepreneurship from pluggd.. Indeed a gr8 initiative!

  31. Vijay Rayapati on January 20, 2009 at 5:03 pm

I would love to see more articles centered around “The Spirit of Entrepreneurs” – Screw it and lets do it and articles for beginners on what it takes to bootstrap? & build successful company? , what you need to know before you start a company? ,basically one section of articles under StartUpKickStartGuide.

You are already doing pretty good job for startup ecosystem, keep the spirits even higher:).

  32. Preethi on January 20, 2009 at 5:03 pm

I feel that its very unclear for young entrepreneurs to get exposure – pluggd can help us by writing articles focusing our needs.

  33. Arun on January 20, 2009 at 5:07 pm

I am a first time visitor with almost nil exposure to entrepreneurship, I just got the spark to do something.. and this site was suggested by a friend..so yet to explore it.. wish i get my first exposure thru Proto

  34. Abhinaya on January 20, 2009 at 5:09 pm

I would appreciate a more interactive setup like that of TiE – not that i don appreciate now ;)

  35. Ganesan on January 20, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Allowing ppl like entrepreneurs, VCs, etc., to blog here would be a good idea i think

  36. Vallidevi on January 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Here goes my tip – get as many entrepreneurs as possible and interview them, visit coffeewithsundar.com to get an idea

  37. Sarath on January 20, 2009 at 5:35 pm

  40. Rahul Rao on January 20, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Hey Ashish, would love to see articles about micro-entrepreneurs (especially not from the IT or Internet space). Everyone knows that the local steel dealership or paan-wallah or hotelier are thrifty and smart in their use of resources (real estate, finances, friends & family, etc – the word in Hindi, I think is jugaad) and in coming up with really basic innovations that help in sustaining and growing their businesses. If you can highlight these stories and then draw parallels to the IT/Internet crowd that you get, I feel you can increase your readership as well as help broke people like me to actually afford passes to events like the TiE simmit and the Proto event. :-)

Jokes aside, there are many times that I get really impressed with success stories of really small-time entrepreneurs. That leaves me with a desire to emulate them at many levels. Would love to read more inspiring success stories. It never fails to keep me going.

    Cheers,
    Rahul

  41. Amal on January 20, 2009 at 6:50 pm

I would like to see more posts from technology guys writing about technology and their experiences in using their technology.

And entrepreneurs writing about why they thought their startups failed and their experiences. It will also be nice if the number of posts about non-web related startups increased.

Otherwise you people are doing a great job for startup community.

  42. Ashish on January 20, 2009 at 7:24 pm

I would like to see more articles on Social Entrepreneurship. Social causes seem to have lost their cause these days. When I was at TiE Summit I was shocked to see that the audience was not as expected – it was more for another session. One thing however that I noticed was how genuine the social entrepreneurs who spoke were. Hats off to them!! I want more people to take social entrepreneurship at least after being a successful entrepreneur.

    Best Wishes,
    Ashish

  43. Jaya Jha on January 20, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Am in for the lottery :)

Feedback for pluggd.in: Would like to see more analysis and research when new start-ups are covered. Things going beyond what the “About us” page of their website says.

  44. Dev on January 20, 2009 at 9:08 pm

Regular reader, good content. a few suggestions
    1. Maybe you can include interviews/videos with upcoming and successful CEO’s with a focus on the key learnings and advice and what does it take to win in the Indian market.
    2. Weekly/monthly summary of events startups can attend. You do this already, if you can make it regular, an events directory of sorts will be great. Dont know of an event aggregator site for cities like Bangalore, tier 1 Indian cities.
    3. You could look at collaborating with the other startup blogs and run an annual startup awards show. (Techcrunch does a great job of this for the bay area startups).

Looking fwd to proto.in, good talks lined up.
    cheers, Dev.

  45. Vivek on January 20, 2009 at 10:25 pm

Although covered sometimes, I guess what I miss the most is market statistics. I know you do post them sometimes for mobile or internet space but expanding them beyond those two domains would be great.

Secondly, I would also prefer more regular guest posts from industry leaders with insights about their domain and of work and industry.

You are anyways doing a great job. Keep it up.

  46. Prashant on January 21, 2009 at 12:30 pm

Only recently I found out about Pluggd.in .. I am regular on this site now.. I run a startup company on medical information and pluggd.in has helped on several aspects. Continue the good work.

Ohh yeah.. I want to attend the proto.in too

  47. Pavan on January 21, 2009 at 4:49 pm

    Hey Ashish,
I would like to c these in pluggd:-

    1. Status Report of Start-Ups : It would be great if the founders could share about their startup periodically ( every 6 months ), will learn a lot
    2. Review of Books – related to Management & Business
    3. Live Chat with VC / Startup / etc so that we can discuss in more clarity
    4. Live Blogging of Events :- for those who cannot make it
    5. Success Stories of entrepreneurs along with their interview ( not only startups )- this will give us lot of insight
    6. Debate on certain topics( I know we do on most of the post – but a separate debate section will really bring out the pros and cons of any given subject – keeping in mind the enthusiasm of so many visitors to you site )
    7. Management Lesson from Movies – You can learn a lot from Lagaan, Chak De- (which you did write ), The Pursuit of Happiness, You got mail, and many many more – It would be very interesting :)

For now this is the list, will keep you updated if anything else comes to ma mind :) , Hope to meet you in Proto ;)

  48. Nits on January 21, 2009 at 5:51 pm

I would like to see more articles about technicalities involved in setting up a startup, once you have an idea i.e. how to register company, best way to register a domain and quickly setup a website etc.

Seems like there are so many takers for the pass. So, let’s see who gets luck. I’m in queue too. :-)

  49. Ashish on January 21, 2009 at 8:41 pm

    All:
Thanks a ton for these feedbacks – I am surely going to work on each one of them.

    Thanks again!

    -Ashish.
PS: The contest is over. we have published the winner names
