Quite lately, many of the IIM grads are taking an alternate route, delving into unchartered territory, doing something that their i-banker peers won’t even think of (or recommend).
Kaushalendra is one such example. Alumni of IIM-A, Kaushalendra isn’t going for the big mnc job, but wants to live his big dream.
“‘I have a dream to build Bihar into a vegetable hub of the country. I want vegetables grown in Bihar on dining tables everywhere – from Srinagar to Salem, from Shillong to Surat.”
Kaushalendra has launched farmers’ cooperative ‘Samriddhi that sells vegetables in ice-cooled pushcarts.
The private-public partnership venture, launched about a couple of months ago with assistance from the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) with just one pushcart, has now placed an order for 50 more, thanks to a collateral-free loan of Rs 50 lakh from the Punjab National Bank.[source]
Inspiring!
“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer”

“The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer” I so agree! Way to go!
Wow ! Ashish, try to get his interview. I am sure there are many like me who would want to hear more from him.
With organized retail booming up and rising demand of fresh fruits and vegetables, I see this business as a big opportunity. All the best Kaushalendra.
Wow! This is really cool…entrepreneur and that too in such a different field i.e., agriculture! Way to go…all the best to Kaushalendra.
All the big guys start from a small things and they make the small thing bigger . Kudos to Kaushalendra . All the very best for your all current and future endevors .
Congratulation for the venture and daring idea and step forward.
The dream of placing the Bihar vegetables on the tables of INDIA is thrilling .
I hope it will slowly reach upto farmer…..s…. and will work for the ELIMINATION OF MIDDLE MAN AND MANDI MAN ….. to the consumers and hope not to follow the Route of Most of the RETAILERS even big names who are simly purchasing the vegetables from the MANDIS and are selling through their outlets …. Nothing new ….. Nothing for the Farmers .. Nothing for the country… just for the sake of their own profits of increasing Stock Keeping Units ( Fresh )…..
Good Luck !!!!! Once again
Ganesh
