Nice article. Well said.

If I may add

#1. Have clear call to actions, preferably in plain english. “Click Here to Buy” rather than just some Buy button
#2. Include your physical address will pin code in the footer, spam protection
#3. Heading/subject is probably the most important element … think of it like headlines for a story in a news paper
#4. Clearly indicate unsubscribe and add to safe list steps
#5. Last but not the least … don’t forget “Forward to Friends”
