Reliance Inks $100mn Deal with ICC – Live T20 Content

Reliance Communications has inked a deal with ESPN-Star to deliver live content from the ICC World T20 matches to its subscribers’ mobile phones.

The Reliance-ESPN deal will run through 2015 and is valued at $100mn (combination of upfront fixed payment as well as revenue-sharing).

The partnership will enable Reliance Mobile (GSM included) customers to receive live match scores/updates on their mobile and even set expert commentary as their caller-tune. Other services will include a toll-free number to listen to live score.

In order to minimize the bandwidth impact, Reliance will enable EDGE-enabled 3G ready technology for it’s GSM customer base and 1X network for CDMA.

Aside, Yahoo is the Internet partner of ICC and Reliance might as well explore the DTH route.
