Cleartrip CEO Arrested (and released) [Travelocity’s FIR Against Cleartrip]

Travelocity India filed FIR against Cleartrip for data theft in December of 2009 and Cleartrip CEO, Stuart and Amit Tanjeja (Former CEO of Desiya) were arrested last night (and released later).

“On 11th December 2009, an FIR was filed by Travelocity India at the Civil Lines Police Station in Gurgaon against Stuart Crighton, our CEO, and Amit Taneja, former CEO of Desiya.

Today, on August 9, 2010, both Stuart and Amit underwent a procedural arrest in Gurgaon; Stuart and Amit were released on bail immediately following the arrest.” – official blog

Travelguru acquired Desiya in 2007 and was later acquired by Travelocity in September of 2009. In the FIR, Travelocity has named Desiya employees (MD Amit Taneja, Regional Manager (North) Sanjeet Singh and travel consultant Imran Ansari) for passing on the data to Cleartrip (our earlier coverage).

The FIR charged Desiya employees for sharing the data related to hotel business model, projections and proprietary information to Cleartrip CEO, Stuart Crighton, which Cleartrip has termed baseless and misconceived.

I Think Travelocity is facing some tough competation in Travell business from other competitors. Being a No.1 and Giant Travel company, travelocity should have used their resources and compete with cleartrip and other travell portals in a business(and not to behave like a chiled who is complaining about other child, Come On!!its a business grow up…!! ).Insted off damaging company image and thus hoping to defeat the competitors, Travelocity should concentrate in a business to compete with the cleartrip and other competitors.
