Bookase – Books Price Comparison for Buying and Selling

Bookase is a Delhi based price comparison site for books. The site compares book prices from the top online stores. The application currently sources prices from International bookstores only with prices in USD and is not targeted at the Indian audience. The prices are quoted with the shipping charges which is very important as sometimes these ‘Extra costs’ makes all the difference.  Although the tool is neat but the interface needs to be worked upon a little more.

The site offers comparison tool for buy backs also, giving you the best prices for the books you want to sell. Hence, closing the whole community of buyers and sellers as well.

What’s your take? What should the site do to gain visibility in the international market?

Iglooo is a similar tool for Indian buyers.

    Couple of observations:
    - Their tag line is about “textbooks”. If they are focusing on that, it needs to be highlighted. I noticed it very late.
    - Search process seems to have some rough edges. Searched for “Bro Code” and it didn’t pick up the Amazon.com listing. (Amazon Marketplace listing was there though)
    - Having the default Joomla favicon is not good :)

Also I am curious if focusing only on books makes sense when players like Amazon sell so many other things. Lot of the times, you won’t pay any shipping on Amazon because you are also picking up other things along with the book and thus crossing the $25 mark. Even though books might be cheaper at other places, breaking my purchase into 2 might end up raising the overall cost for me.
