New Bollywood Launches: StarBoxOffice, e24bollywood

Two many Bollywood sites launched today:

e24bollywood: From BAG films, the site wants you to upload videos, picture, music. e24bollywood has editorially created blogs, skimpy outfit divas (to download!) and honestly, nothing much to talk about.

StarBoxOffice: Launched by Star TV, the site is pretty much the same old wine and doesn’t really have any major differentiation. Download wallpapers, interact in forums, movie ratings/earnings, feeds from indya.com…and lots of blahs.

Go check them out. What do you think?

Strip these sites of their logos and I am sure you can’t differentiate one from the other – apart from plain content, the attempt to increase use participation is half-hearted.

Bollywood is quite a big revenue earning opportunity for online players (esp. the ones with cross media presence) and looks like, everybody who can use a CMS tool and get some content is jumping onto it.

Signs of bubble? Yes.

Will these sites last? I seriously doubt that.
What do you think?

yeah bollywood is always on top in Google Trends India

I just had a casual bollywod blog but it got a lot of traffic so I guess established bollywood sites with good content might just blow up their servers :D

all our social networking sites and even reputed news channel portals like IBNLive uses bollywood celeb names as keywords in google adwords to advertise… they know what people search for daily ;)

Well, again, these bollywood sites with yet another 100 wallpapers, screensavers, ringtones, blah, blah. Can we get something original for a change please?

The secret to success these days is to create a product (website in this case) which will have something of interest for each of your TAs. Having one general product which will target all your TAs is a disaster! What say, Aashish?

The thing is that these launches are more of a lip service – monetizing bollywood isn’t too difficult and that’s why media houses are spending lotsa money in such sites.
Lets wait for the recession to start ! :)

Moviemagic is one site in similar space, but they aggregate content from various places and give it in proper format. Also chakpak is on similar lines but while chakpak is for bollywood alone, movie mazic is for 6 different languages. http://moviemazic.com and http://chakpak.com

    MovieMazic has no traffic [Alexa]

MovieMAZIC is relatively new compared to chakpak so it may take time to get more traffic. But I found Movie MAZIC more appealing. Can visit my page on movie mazic @ http://moviemazic.com//showuser.php?id=428

    it can be easily manupilated.

at the end of the day what matters is the user’s satisfaction :)

If it is about “User Satisfaction”, then there should be enough users in the first place. A handful of initial users are generally more satisfied. [Let me know if it need explanation ;-) ].

There are loads of bollywood websites with same shitty content in terms of pictures and videos. For a change there are also numbe of bollywood blogs to get the exclusive content and cut the clutter.

If main stream sites are making, I am sure these blogs are also making it big. Here are few of my favs…

I see the alexa rank of Moviemazic as 11.5K among Indian sites, So abhishek you cant just say that they dont have users. Anyways you will be justifying that chakpak is better since you have invested in that company. I think you are from erasmic venture fund :) .

    It’s not because of that.
