And now Ghajini gets into PC Games [3D]

FXLabs and Eros International have partnered to launch Ghajini – The Game, supposedly India’s First 3D PC Game based on a Bollywood Movie.

The PC based game will be distributed via Eros’ network/distribution platform; and the duo is planning to launch a new line of games that will leverage big movie titles and stories.

Do you think movie based games will pick up in India? Moreover, movies have a sort of crunchy effect and one lose the interest after a few week of launch – so doesn’t it make sense to launch Internet/Mobile games (instead of desktop product)?

What’s your opinion? Will you buy these games?

First things first, who are they kidding, do we even have movies that are good enough to make games on. Well, in that case, I am afraid, every game will have a similar theme wherein you get points for dancing around trees and coming up stupid with romantic situations.

Also, the idea of a desktop game is better, because people who watch hindi movies are so dumb that they would not know how to browse to a website without singing a song.

I think the only theme that makes sense to me is RockOn creators coming up with a game like Guitar Heroes. Now, that would be a hit in India considering how popular rock is getting (albeit for wrong reasons like Himesh Reshammiya).

Anyways, I think that the idea is crap, and they need to concentrate on making better movies than trying to sell the same thing in a different package.

My friends and I were discussing the option a month back and I told them that it will be an immense marketing gimmick to have someone make a game on Ghajini and now this news does not surprise me. My apprehension is only on the success of the game versus the movie, but it will boil down on the product and the story lineage. Dead copies won’t work.

By the way Rizwan, a game with Himesh and his music will do very well as a mobile application. Thanks for trigerring off the idea.!!!

    Hi,
I think games is a cool option, and maybe the games released now will be a bit faaltoo not something gamers will really go for. But once the gaming industry starts picking up then we will have something to look forward to.
Its like with the animation movies. The initial initial ones were a sad attempt only when compared to western animations which is not really fair considering that movies need to please our masses also.

Another upside is that these games might make rural youngsters get on to the computer which would help with making the rural populace computer literate. :)
