I have been noticing that a “well known” blog is copying our content without sharing any credits.
Please note that the site is licensed under creative commons (Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported) and if at all you would like to take some content (and mashup), do share the credits appropriately.
This is my last warning to the said blog.
I won’t hesitate in taking names from next time onwards. Be-Aware.

There have been many…..which is the blog you referring to
not too sure about the blog u r referring to, but just saw that watblog has profiled startups that you profield earlier (flipkart, indiankanoon…)
Good that you hv cc license. I too have been watching quite lately that watblog guys have copied ur content…infact they used to do it earlier…but stopped. (and copied agencyfaqs
)…but guess they hv started again !!
Which other blog are you referring to?
I’ve suffered plagiarism before and trust me you won’t be able to do jack-shit even if you appeal to any body or Indian police.
There’s a simple law in the press – News once broken can be reported by any one else. You need not mention source.
People mention sources just for goodwill.
And posting comments on your own thread from different names just take potshots at other blogs isn’t the smartest thing to do.
@Devil
“People mention sources just for goodwill.” – Well, that’s seeding plagiarism (and maybe you are talking about just those people who shine on plagiarism)
As far as “potshots at other blogs isn’t the smartest thing to do” – well, if not for those comments, I wouldn’t have known that watblog took the IndianKanoon details w/o sharing credits.
And after that, Rajiv replied saying he forgot to credit the source.
Don’t worry – there are umpteen other ways to take care of jackshits.
All in good faith.

PS: How about using your “original” name?
Rajiv Dingra is too full of himself.
It’s more rajivdingra.com than watblog.com as someone pointed out at Proto last week to me.
But once again – you can’t blame any blog for so called copying your content. You are reporting a news – if you want to keep it as a secret then why publish it in the first place?
It’s web2.0….social media. Things are meant to be spread – it builds communication.
If you want to be hailed as the god of breaking news….i’d suggest sticking to your day job at Yahoo and forget about blogging.
P.S: I don’t like using my real name.
@Devil ; Thanks for your “evolved” gyaan and suggestions!!
Much appreciated!
Anytime mate!
Ive quite enjoyed this discussion. But just to set the record straight. We’ve always linked to all those from where we have taken content be it contentsutra, alootechie, pluggd or any other blog. And NO its not for goodwill. I think all the above blogs do a fantastic job and i think each of them is required if this space has to benefit and grow. One simple thing should make you realise that watblog doesnt blog for money or traffic i.e we dont have any ads or sponsors! We blog because we are passionate and we love to highlight stuff that we find important. Sometimes we find such stuff on other blogs and are happy to link to all of them. Incase we forget its because we have our company to handle i.e. WATConsult besides for WATBlog. But we will link it immediately if pointed out. We have many typos in our blogs as well. So we are not perfect nor do we want to be. We are happy improving all the time.
Also Devil watblog isnt rajivdingra.com infact i dont even contribute 50% of the total content on watblog. So its a group blog at its best. As far as me being too full of myself Ill take that as a feedback and work on it. Thanks for your comments!
@Rajiv
- Again the same issue is being repeated – “Remindo” – how did you hear about them? Do share the credits appropriately.
I don’t think you will appreciate if somebody else forgets to share credits for your work..
-Ashish.
Dear Ashish,
I think its naive of you to think that all the startups exclusively send you press release. Remindo founders sent us the press release through our submit a post function almost 1 week before you even blogged it.
Here is the content of that release
” I would like to introduce to you Remindo.com, which is a workpage aiming to help people work better and more efficiently everyday. While there are lots of social products there isn\’t anything that really helps with improving work productivity.
We want to focus on this need-gap and give users a site that becomes a portal for their daily work requirements, this includes collaborative tools as well. The enterprise 2.0 space is projected to cross some b by 2011, which is the market we eventually aim to tap with Remindo.
The site is in its beta at the moment has some 500 editor-selected and location-specific, customizable set of feeds (which is a much-required feature in the current startpage market), an address book, and a private messaging system.
We are in the process of designing the Remindo API which will also integrate with the Opensocial API. We eventually seek to host a number of work-relevant applications and widgets that integrate deeply with the users\’ data.
You can also read more about what we are doing at our blog http://www.Remindo.com/blog”
Ashish I think you need to realise that WATBlog is a very popular blog and our strategy is we collect startup information and blog them together. Next time be careful before you accuse us of plaigiarism or use your blog to point fingers at us. We have always given you credit (please check our startup bust posts) and will continue to do so when we FIRST read about it on your blog. So please focus on YOUR blog and stop making a fool of yourself by pointing fingers at others of stealing your content without having full knowledge.
Rajiv: “I don’t think you will appreciate if somebody else forgets to share credits for your work..” my statement was in response to your earlier statement.
I don’t think it makes sense to say “oh! I forgot to share the credit..was way too busy”. Remindo was an example, and i am glad that i am wrong.
such incidents have happened in the past and I dont think anybod y appreciates that.
Good luck.
