Nothing lasts forever…

and we both know hearts can change..
so can kidneys/lungs – then why not site templates.

Well, we have revamped the entire site and moved the content between the sidebars and have shifted to a standard template.

If you are wondering why we did this, well, before making these changes, I did a fair amount of research on blogger hacks and to my surprise, there are lotsa interesting stuff happening with the new blogger [that we will add over a period of time].

Moreover, the entire world is moving to WP – why follow the trend? Also, porting blogger permalinks to wordpress is quite a pain.

I request you to give us your candid feedback on the new look – Good/Bad/Ugly?

BTW : template credit goes to blogcrowds and the date element credit goes to Hafiz.

Hello please replace the credit link. Thanks

Thank you, Ashish. This template has fewer bells and whistles, but is far more usable than the previous one. And most importantly, it is *familiar* to most people – and so follows the first rule of good design.

    3. Ramjee says:

I felt the old design was distinct and set apart pluggd.in. I agree this is better in design terms. Still I like the colors of the older one.

    4. Ashish says:

      Hmmm… mixed reactions! :)
What I liked about this template is its quite neat, but yeah! I also agree with Ramjee that older design was distinct..
Hope to bring in the color schemes of the previous template to the newer one!

    5. Ashish says:

This seems a bit dull. I agree with ramjee – the older design was fairly unique to pluggd. Also, it felt like there was so much activity happening. Another thing is: very soon you are going to wish for a wider area for your main posts. The current width (on my resolution at least – 1024×768) – makes each post look longer – and if you ever want to put in comparative data which will be wide – say a table – you won’t be able to.

    6. Ashish says:

      Hey Ashish
Point taken. I will wait for few more feedbacks and then see if I should use the previous one and work on that!

Thanks guys for taking time off to share your feedbacks

      Hi,

I prefer the old template design. Apart from being distinct like others have mentioned here, the other important aspect of the template was the posts were in the first column and then the rest followed, which meant that when a user reads from left to right, he(she) would first read the post.

Right now with these almost 3 distinct column format it makes it difficult for the user to focus on the post.

      That was my impression.

      Regards,
      Deepak

oh man..not a minute too soon, It’s gonna be a lot easier to find stuff here I hope……

    9. Kumar says:

I feel navigation is easier in this design but previous look set pluggd.in apart and that’s missing now. Also as rightly pointed out by deepak, older template ensured that highest priority is given for posts rather than anything else.If you can club the two templates, we can make the best of both worlds :-)

    10. Ashish says:

      Thanks Kumar [and everybody else!]
So here is the deal – I have changed the site colors/styles to match the previous template.

      Hope that works out..! :)

      Please share your feedback.

      Ashish,
Check out the post in various resolutions. 1024*768 resolution, the display needs to scroll horizontally (Not many use a resolution higher than this). You might need to adjust accordingly.

It still needs a bit working on the colors, to get that distinctive look. (A bit more contrast might do the trick)

      Ashish,

      Couple of suggestions.
For Blog archives you may want to experiment with Calendar.
Pluggd.in (without www. prefix) does not resolve to your website, but http://www.pluggd.in does.

    14. Ashish says:

      Thanks Ravi.
      Will implement your suggestion!

    15. The Cruisemaniac says:

      Hey Ashish,

Simple and elegant theme. But i’d sugges u have the middle column a bit wider… Kinda makes the main reading portion look unnecessarily long…

    16. Ashish says:

      Hey Ashwin
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your feedback. Have increased the width of post area.
BTW I emailed you (after we met at Barcamp) at your thecruisemaniac id, but the mail bounced back :(

    17. Ramjee says:

      hi,

The new look is nice. The switch to softer colors is good.

    18. Ashish says:

      Hey Ramjee!
      Thanks :) :)
