Couple of updates and announcements

Update: Reverted back to the good old theme – many of you sent me emails asking to get back to the “older way of viewing” pluggd.in!

If you have been a regular reader, you must have noticed a “monkey” playing with the site theme. The monkey tried several themes and looks like the hopping and jumping will stop now!

We sincerely apologise to our readers for all that jumping and hopping!

Few of our earlier themes code were not at all optimized and that resulted in too many errors/bad user experience. Finally, we (including the monkey) have settled for the current theme (inspired by bloggingpro guys) and we hope you like it too.

Please let us know your suggestions/feedbacks.

Most importantly, we are launching two channels to bring to you fresh perspectives on Indian digital industry and resources related to startupping!

      Hey Ashish

Nice theme, although it is going to take a while to get used to it. Looks like you have been busy.

    2. Ashish says:

Thanks Vivek for the feedback. Yes the last few days have been really weird!! was way too busy, hence the frequency of posts went down!
But now, I am back! and back with a bang! :)

    3. Raj says:

Do you know how trak.in has made fool of it’s readers? They have installed the analytics code twice – which means every visit to the site is counted twice!!! (view their source code and search for urchin code)

And shamelessly they announced they have reached 100K pageviews!

      Very disgusting!

    4. Sunil says:

I dont like the Theme. Its Very Ugly and Not clean. Previous theme was far better.

    5. Ashish says:

Thanks Sunil for your feedback! Looks like I need to work on the css and get a clean output

    6. Trakin says:

      Hello Raj,

      Interesting observation…
However, If you don’t know – even if you have any amount of analytics codes installed it will not show a single visitor higher – do you think google is that foolish…Also, I do have statcounter code installed too…and it has the same page views…
I also have google adsense impressions…please send me your mail Id and I guess you will be convinced…
However, I am pleasantly surprised that visitors are taking notice and going at lengths to find out behind the page details….

BTW…thanks for letting me know about the analytics code thing too..as I also did not know about it….I will check and give you the answer…

Luckily I came across your comment via google alerts…

    7. Ashish says:

Arun – FYI : If a code is installed twice, it does count the no. of visits twice. I also checked your site source code and found the same thing.
Anyways, your site – your visitors, your stats!

      Hello Ashish..
I am surprised at your comment..
      please check this..
      http://trak.in/tags/business/2007/12/03/trakin-blog-statistics-allegation/

Lets lay a bet right away….if you can show me this…

I have statcounter code…google adsense impressions…My web hosts webalizer sats…my slimstat plugin (which BTW shows far more visitors…)..

      Do you want anything else…???

    10. Saptarshi says:

After I’ve read Ashish’s comment “If a code is installed twice, it does count the no. of visits twice”, I knew what to expect from plugged.in… May be that’s why Pluggd.in is such a famous blog

    11. Jim Norton says:

      Why the in-fighting here people?

    12. Ashish says:

Hey Arun – As I said earlier, its your blog, your stats. I know, and am pretty sure of how stats work!

Anyways buddy, I really don’t care about all these. Willl forward this discussion to Raj.

@Saptarshi – Amazed to know your insightful comments!

    13. Trakin says:

Nice to know Ashish that you know :)
Even better that you don’t care…just that you backing up and checking did not exactly give that impression…
regardless, I will be a regular reader of your blog

    14. Ashish says:

hey Arun – relax buddy! All I meant was that I really don’t care whether trak.in gets 100K visitors or 50K.
As far as your stat entry is concerned, I too checked that and noticed that the entry was present twice – but as I said it doesn’t matter (to me atleast)! I read blogs that interest me, and not because of their traffic stats.

      Welcome to India, btw!

    15. Raj says:

Sorry for the delay in replying. Well, mr trakin –
      watch this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bg8SU0Seuw

I took the source of your blog and searched for your urchin code. clearly shows you have added the stats entry TWICE! Now what? you want to rely on Google’s intelligence to count them as one?

      Go fish!
