India’s 3G story is one heck of a story – government has delayed the spectrum auction by 6 months and BSNL/MTNL seems to be enjoying the early access (with no major success, read : 3G in India – Gloomy subscription numbers from BSNL and MTNL).
Motorola wants to test 4G in India and is set to start trial service (by end of 2009) that can offer upto 70 mbps download speed.
Motorola is still in talks with DoT for trial spectrum (source) and if things go well, this could be a potential party pooper for the government. After all, telecom operators who have been waiting for 3G spectrum might just want to wait for 4G before investing heavily in infrastructure.
What’s your opinion?
