wOOt – spelled with zeros and not Os is 2007 word of the year.
w00t is an acronym for “we owned the other team”—and is inspired by gaming community.
Interestingly, woot is a famous site which auctions only 1 product a day.
“It started as an employee-store slash market-testing type of place for an electronics distributor, but it’s taken on a life of its own. We anticipate profitability by 2043 – by then we should be retired; someone smarter might take over and jack up the prices. Until then, we’re still the lovable scamps we’ve always been.”
What’s really cool about woot is it’s simple-and no-nonsense approach towards the auction. Look at FAQ
No. Well, not really. If you buy something you don’t end up liking or you have what marketing people call “buyer’s remorse,” sell it on eBay. It’s likely you’ll make money doing this and save everyone a hassle. If the item doesn’t work, find out what you’re doing wrong.
Who else has the ba**s to say this to customers? wOOt has and interestingly, they have a twitter bot too.
Other contenders for 2007 – word of the year were FaceBook and quixotic (get the list)

No woot isn’t an auction site, it sells one product per day (dirt cheap, and 5$ shipping on everything) and the best part is the woot-off, goes on for maybe a couple of days where they digress a bit from their one product a day model and sell stuff as soon as the earlier product is sold out, the cherry on the cake being the Random Bag of Crap.. sells for $1 and could have anything in it when it arrives.. from a broken made in china toy to a brand new WII… would love something like that in India..
